Fun Things to Do in Chattanooga in June

Pick Your Own Lavender

Local lavender varieties typically reach peak bloom in June. Though some varieties may have a longer blooming season or have a second bloom in autumn, now is definitely the best time to go.

Discover all the best pick-your-own lavender farms near Chattanooga right here.

U-Pick Blueberry Farms

Around mid-June local blueberry farms will start announcing their picking dates. Ripening time is dependent on the weather so it can vary slightly from year to year.

If you can’t make it in June, don’t worry. Blueberries have a long season, and you can still enjoy u-pick throughout July.

Synchronous Fireflies

So, you were planning to finally see the Smoky Mountain synchronous fireflies this year, but you didn’t get picked for the lottery. What now?

The good news is fireflies are living creatures and it’s hard to determine their mating window precisely. There is still a great chance you’ll be able to view the show a couple of days before or after the main park event. Of course, there are no guarantees.

Alternatively, you can also check out the Molly Branch Firefly experience, which offers multiple dates in mid-June. There is no lottery required.

Free Outdoor Concerts

If you love music, you’ll be glad to know that all those free outdoor concerts will keep going on all summer long.

Summer Swimming Spots

As the days get hotter, now’s the perfect time to check out a local swimming hole like Blue Hole at North Chickamauga or Foster Falls in South Cumberland State Park.

For more traditional swimming options check out these fantastic public pools and splash pads.
