Luckily, we have a wealth of support groups and homeschool co-ops in Knoxville to help you meet the kindred spirits you and your kids have been searching for.

In addition to enrichment classes and parent’s day out events, these groups also offer added benefits like kindergarten and high school graduation ceremonies, science fairs, dances, clubs, yearbooks, and more!

Homeschool Co-ops in Knoxville

As you view each homeschool group, keep in mind that most of the religiously affiliated cooperatives do not require a statement of faith to join. They simply ask that you are respectful of their religious affiliation.

Adventure Homeschoolers of East Tennessee

  • Meeting Location: Heiskell TN

This parent-run homeschool co-op hosts weekly enrichment classes and a variety of field trips throughout the year.

Axis Academy

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville
  • Religious Affiliation: secular

Axis Academy offers a variety of online and in-person support classes on the topics of math and technology.

Bezalel Fine Arts Co-op–Grades K-12

Meeting Location: Louisville
Religious Affiliation: Christian

This parent-run fine arts co-op meets once a week and has a focus on drama, dance, music, and all things fine arts. This is a Christian co-op.

Blount Home Education Association

Meeting Location: Maryville
Religious Affiliation: Christian

BHEA is a parent-run co-op with 2 meeting days each week. There is 1 day for preschool and elementary school and 1 day for middle and high school.

Classes include academic and extracurricular options. There are also a variety of clubs and field trips scheduled throughout the year.

Cedar Springs Homeschool Group

  • Meeting Location: Cedar Bluff (Knoxville)

In this homeschool cooperative, families will enjoy once-monthly parent-run classes as well as various field trips throughout the year.

Classical Conversations

  • Meeting Locations: Farragut, Knoxville, Lenoir City, Louisville, Maryville, New Market, New Tazewell, Oak Ridge
  • Religious Affiliation: Christian

While parents must stay on campus for the duration of the once-weekly classes, the classes are taught by paid tutors.

For this program, a classical-style curriculum is used both in the co-op and at home. The curriculum focuses heavily on memorization and covers history, science, English, Latin, geography, and math. There are also opportunities for science projects, public speaking, music, art, and more.

This program is tutor-led and tends to be more costly than the parent-run programs.

Creative Learning Academy

These once-weekly homeschool classes are offered for kids ages 5 – 14. The classes are parent-led and separated by age. Class offerings are decided on as a collective and change each semester.

This co-op also hosts a variety of field trips and social events throughout the year.

Crossroads Christian Academy

This hybrid school provides 3 days of in-school instruction with qualified teachers. The curriculum is used for at-home learning for the remaining 2 weekdays.

This curriculum includes instruction in math, language arts, bible, history, and science.

Discovery Co-op

This parent-led homeschool co-op meets once a week. Classes are offered from Pre-K through high school.

EDGE Co-op

  • Meeting Location: Seymour TN

This homeschool group hosts parent-led classes once a week for pre-k through high school. It also offers a variety of field trips and social events throughout the year.

Homeschool co-ops in Knoxville TN

Freedom Home Educators Co-op

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville
  • Religious Affiliation: Christian

Freedom students meet once a week and are taught a well-rounded curriculum. The classes are tutor-led.

The same curriculum is continued at home for the rest of the week. All families are expected to use the co-op’s chosen curriculum.

Oak Grove Homeschool Cooperative

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville
  • Religious Affiliation: Christian

Oak Grove offers 2 levels of support. The Friday U classes are extracurricular and are meant to supplement at-home schooling.

They also offer core hybrid programs for elementary, middle, and high school. Students in these core programs attend educator-led classes 2-3 days a week and continue with the required curriculum at-home for the remaining days.

Students enrolled in one of the core programs can also sign up for Friday U separately.

Funtastic Fridays

As the name suggests, Funtastic Fridays is a once-weekly parent-led co-op. They have classes for kids in pre-k through high school.

Ijams Homeschool Nature Ed-ventures

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville

These homeschool nature classes are led by IJAMS staff. The classes are offered for kids in preschool through elementary school. Registered students will attend 8 themed classes throughout the course of the year.

Holston Homeschool Co-op

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville

Holston Co-op families can choose between 1 or 2 days of academic and enrichment activities. They also host a variety of field trips, STEM days, parties, prom, and more!

Please note that the website for Holston Co-op is not up to date, but I have personally contacted the co-op via their Facebook page and they are still going strong. They have a private group for members that is kept up to date.

Lakeway Heritage Community Group

Lakeway Heritage is a parent-led co-op that meets once a week and serves students in grades k-12. This co-op also hosts a variety of social events and field trips throughout the year.

Master’s Mondays Homeschool Co-op

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville
  • Religious Affiliation: Christian

Master’s Mondays provides teacher-led academic and enrichment classes for kids in grades 6-12. This co-op also hosts clubs, special events, and field trips.

McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture Homeschool Classes

The McClung museum offers once monthly homeschool groups for kids in grades k-12. Each class includes a hands-on galley experience and a take-home project.

Muse Knoxville Homeschool Classes

These educational classes are run by Muse staff and are for grades k-5. Although you can pay for individual classes, you can register for the entire semester at a discount.

Classes focus on a variety of science topics. Payment for classes does not include admission to the museum. Parents may stay for class, but it is not a requirement.

Paideia Academy

For grades pre-k through 6, Paideia Academy offers in-school instruction 2-3 days a week. The school provides parents with everything they need to complete school at home for the remaining 2 days. This school’s curriculum takes a classical approach.

Quest Academy

Quest Academy offers weekly enrichment classes for pre-k through high school. They also host a variety of field trips, social gatherings, and more.

River’s Edge Christian Academy

This hybrid school offers the best of both worlds with 3 in-school days a week and 2 days where learning continues at home. Subjects include language arts, math, science, and history.

Trinity Christian Academy

Truth Trekkers

Truth Trekkers offers k-12 enrichment and academic classes, in addition to a variety of social activities, field trips, prom, graduation, and more.

Zoo Knoxville Homeschool Classes

  • Meeting Location: Knoxville

Zoo Knoxville’s homeschool science classes have both weekly and monthly options that run for a semester at a time. The program is run by Zoo Knoxville staff.

In these classes, students will learn about the various plants and animals found at the zoo. This includes hands-on animal encounters. Classes are available for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade.
