Nature Education

This wonderful botanical garden is FREE to the public and is filled with seasonal flowers and foliage throughout the year. Nature based educational programs are also available for children and adults throughout the year. This facility also hosts summer camp programs.

This facility, owned by the United Methodist Church, offers opportunities for outdoor education, overnight summer camps, and retreats.

Educational Programs: This center offers a variety of hands-on nature programs throughout the year. topics include boating, interactive hiking, Native American history,  stream ecology, wilderness survival, and much more! Programs are perfect for field trips and your group will receive a custom schedule. Educational experiences can last from 1/2 day up to a full week. Secular and faith based options available.

Summer Camp: This faith centered overnight camp combines opportunities for worship and spiritual growth with good old fashioned fun and outdoor recreation. Camp is for kids in 1st-12th grade. A special needs camp is also available for kids ages 12-22.

Retreats: Overnight retreat facilities are also available. The per-person price include meals. Prices vary based on chosen accommodations.

 

General Info: Ijams nature center offers a variety of educational programs and nature-based activities including, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, live animal presentations, and nature and conservation education. There is also an amazing ropes course on-site. Field trips and nature-themed birthday parties are also available.

Summer Camps: In addition to their year round educational programs, this facility also offers a variety of week-long summer camps with various themes. Camp activities include hiking, caving, canoeing, arts and crafts, games, songs, educational programs, and much more!

Ijams’ Preschool Camp serves children ages 3-5.

Ijams’ Nature Adventure Camp serves children ages 6-12 years old.

General Zoo Information – This fun family-friendly zoo features a variety of amazing animals, including lions, tigers, elephants, gorillas, and much more! Educational programs take place at varying times throughout the day. If you are brave enough, you can even feed the giraffes. There is a splash pad on-site for the kiddos and the the entire zoo is stroller accessible.

Zoo Camp – In the summer, the zoo offers week long day camps that focus on animal education and give kids a behind the scenes look at zoo life!
