Fruit pizzas are such a fun and delicious treat for kids, but the recipes always seem to involve sugar cookies and a sugar-based sauce. Don’t get me wrong, sugary treats definitely have their place in life. In fact, I really love this cookie-based fruit pizza recipe from Sugar Aunts.
However, I wanted to create a healthier version that would be great for daily meals or snacks, not just a special treat. This healthy fruit pizza recipe is a nice twist on the classic, because it uses whole grain English muffins with a healthier sauce.
How to assemble the healthy fruit pizza:
Ingredients:
- English muffins
- full fat yogurt (if it’s not full fat, it’s not a whole food)
- sliced fruit, anything you have available
Steps:
Toast the muffins to your desired crispness. Then, spread with yogurt. You can use any flavor that you like. I personally prefer to buy organic baby yogurt, even for myself. It’s one of my splurge purchases (we all have them). The baby yogurts are full fat with less sugar and less additives. If you have room in your budget, it’s definitely the way to go.

Next top with a variety of fresh sliced fruits. Some fruits that work well for this type of pizza are bananas, halved or quartered grapes, small orange pieces, sliced strawberries, and blueberries. But really, you can use any fruit you have on hand. There is no need to be picky. It will still taste delicious.
Tip: slicing bananas is a great opportunity for young kids to practice kitchen skills. Bananas are soft enough to be easily sliced using a plastic knife. This is great for building fine motor and daily living skills while keeping kids safe.
